Fun at the beach

For the last three months, we haven't been able to go to the beach, as the government guidelines for the lockdown didn't allow us to drive to another location for exercise. Although we have a beautiful beach in Llanfairfechan, our house is a little too far to walk to it for Willow's little legs! So we were really missing the beach. We could see the beautiful sea from our house on the hill, sparkling in the sun, taunting us, especially during the long heat wave we had over the past few months!

Now, finally, we are permitted to travel up to 5 miles, and so we bundled toddler and dog into the car. Llanfairfechan beach is just perfect. It is wide, sandy and quiet, and when the tide is out, it is the ideal place for the Pig to run and Willow to toddle about free-range. Of course, Willow made a bee-line for the nearest water and promptly sat down in it, but a trip to the beach for a toddler is not complete without a soggy bottom! I can't wait for Willow to get to sand-castle-building age, this place is perfect for it.

Just look at all this space:

Looking back towards the village, the seafront is lined with beautiful historic Arts and Crafts houses. And, very importantly, two lovely beachfront cafes for coffee, cake and ice cream (not that they are open now, of course!).

Piggy got in some beautiful long retrieves as part of her pet gundog training too, although it was a bit too hot for her and she only managed three before she was out of puff.

We are so lucky to have this on our doorstep. It is beautiful in all weathers. Here is a picture from last winter:

Although, when the winter winds pick up, we found out it was a little too windy for small ones (don't worry, she didn't hurt herself here! A well-padded bum!):
