Deep in a fairy dell

The Old Sheep Farm is nestled between the wide, wild expanse of Snowdonia on one side, and the cool ferny dingly-dells of Nant y Coed nature reserve on the other. We are so lucky to be surrounded by so much beauty of all different flavours.

During this heat wave, it is bliss to stroll down to Nant y Coed, over the stepping stones and into the cool shady woodland. We explore the winding paths through the trees, happening upon waterfalls, pools and ferny glades.

You can climb up above the nature reserve into an ancient oak woodland on the hillside which looks over the Old Sheep Farm. It definitely has a Lord-of-the-Rings feel to it!

And for kids, it is great - there are hidden treasures to be found in the trees. Look carefully, and you may find an elf village, and even some dragon eggs! When Willow was smaller, it was the perfect place for a stroll, as there are buggy-friendly paths to follow. And The Pig enjoys a swim in the lake too!

It is lovely to see the seasons change here. There are bluebells, harebells and wild garlic in the spring, and golden brown autumn colours glow in the sunshine when the leaves turn.
